Program Overview

The Darcy Akers Fund was established in 1988 after the tragic death of a Darcy Akers. The Fund is a charitable entity organized under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS tax code. The Fund’s sole purpose is to provide scholarships to deserving local students in an effort to assist their post-secondary educational pursuits.

The Ormond Beach Rotary Club is part of Rotary International. Rotary International is comprised of millions of Rotarians operating out of more than 30,000 clubs in over 200 countries. Every Rotarian is dedicated to promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, and, growing their local economies. All Rotarians work hard to raise money for both local and international humanitarian causes.

The Ormond Beach Rotary Club takes special pride in contributing to the Darcy Akers Fund. Each year our members work hard to raise monies to assist students with their educational goals. This is accomplished mostly through our annual Darcy Akers Golf Tournament. Since 1988 our club has had the privilege of providing four year scholarships to more than 50 students.
